Painters Island Caravan Park - Wangaratta

During our recent visit to Wangaratta we booked a site at the Painters Island Caravan Park. This is the closest caravan park to the centre of town which is just a short walk over the footbridge across the Ovens River. What a lovely spot.

The managers, Paul Carlson and Penny Bennett were very helpful in finding us a lovely drive-through site with plenty of space for the slide-out on our Jayco. These are pretty much double sites with heaps of room and only used as two sites during very busy periods.  The managers prefer to allow their visitors to feel welcome and not squashed in.

This is a beautiful park with lots of open areas for the children to run around and ride their bikes. Great facilities for children -

• large ingound pool with plenty of shade
• toddlers pool
• building opposite the office housing a table tennis table
• cricket pitch 
• basketball hoop
  
• giant chess set
• tennis court

We initially booked in for two nights and ended up staying for six – would have stayed longer but they were fully booked over Easter. During our stay the markets were held in the Apex Park which again is walking distance to Painters Island.  This was a great market with locally made and grown products on sale - smoked trout, local meat, cheese, hand-made cards and jewelry plus plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables

The amenities in the caravan park are clean and spacious with a new separate male amenities block near the clothes lines. The whole park is neat and tidy and at this time of year quite beautiful with the leaves slowly changing colour for Autumn. The park also has a range of cabins which are very well maintained. A large covered barbeque are sits beside the pool with plenty of seating.  

I would not hesitate to recommend this park.
