Tamworth is known as the Country Music Capital of Australia and it is not surprising that you will find a giant guitar sitting outside the Visitor Information Centre - New England Highway (Goonoo Goonoo Road).
It is known as the Golden Guitar - an icon of Tamworth which was opened in 1987. It has been well photographed and stands 12 metres high. It is believed that the Golden Guitar has been visited by hundreds and thousands of people - of course we can now be counted in that figure.
