The Durack Homestead Museum can be found beside Lake Argyle, Western Australia. This Homestead was built by the Durack Family and was located on Argyle Downs Station. It was decided to relocate and preserve the homestead when the dam was built (it would have been covered by water). They dismantled the building stone by stone and it was stored for three years before being reconstructed and opened as a museum.
This building is amazingly cool in summer with wide verandahs, thick walls and high ceilings - note that the each external door is opposite an external door on the other side of the building to allow for cross ventilation. A small fee is payable to enter the museum but I think this is building is well worth visiting.
