Town Beach can be accessed by just a short drive down Bremer Bay Road - heading right outside the Bremer Bay Caravan Park. It is at the southern end of Bremer Bay - not far from the lookout. The Wallstead Estuary is located near Town Beach and 4WD access is allowed at certain times of the year along Gordon Inlet Road. The sand is very hard packed at the entrance to the 4WD track and the sandbar across the inlet to the Estuary only opens after heavy rain - it can be closed for several years at a time.
This is a very popular spot for fishing and swimming as well as crabbing. The shallow waters of the estuary and surrounding plants make this a habitat for many birds - apparently the beach and sandbank are one of the few breeding grounds for the hooded plover. I have read that up to 500 swans have been spotted at one time in this area - that would be an amazing sight.
