Avoca is located in the Pyrenees Wine Region of Victoria and is about half an hour outside Ballarat. There are a number of lovely old buildings along main street which seemed to be left over from the gold rush era and now operate as cafes, gift shops and galleries.
We stopped at Avoca for morning tea. Purchased sausage roll from Shear Delights Bakery on the main street – delicious (best one for ages). We then had coffee from the baker across the road at Pyrenees Pies – takeaway and pie shop with a range of interesting pies – crocodile, emu etc. We like to spread our patronage around when visiting small country towns!!!
There are plenty of parking spaces along this very wide street when towing a caravan. There are also parking spaces available in the median strip which also contains sculptures, public toilets and a range of lovely flower gardens.
The Visitor Information Centre is staffed by knowledgeable locals who are happy to help with planning your stay in this lovely area.
