Roxby Downs Visitor Information Centre

The Roxby Downs Visitor Information Centre is located on Richardson Street in the middle of town - close to the shops. This is a beautiful centre which houses a variety of community facilities:

• art gallery - displays are continually changing. During our visit there was a lovely display of artwork created by the school students.
• cafe - large eating area 
• Swimming pool - could walk through from Visitor Information Centre - toddlers pool with shade sails and indoor pool 
• Library - very accessible

Roxby Downs began as a town in 1987 and is mostly populated with people who work at the Olympic Dam Mine. The Visitor Information Centre can organise a tour of Olympic Dam Mine site which includes a nature tour of the Arid Recovery Reserve. (The Arid Recovery Reserve is an area for threatened local mammals where feral animals such as cats have been eradicated). Unfortunately this tour was not running during our visit to Roxby Downs and the staff at the Visitor Information Centre were happy to provide us with as much information as possible about the mine and the reserve.

Roxby Downs is a lovely little town with great sporting facilities and seemed to have a friendly community spirit.  The staff at the Visitor Information Centre were very welcoming and helpful - what a great atmosphere.
