Rawnsley Lookout is accessed from small parking area about 40 kilometres north of Hawker and 15 kilometres south of Wilpena Pound Resort on the Flinders Ranges Way, South Australia. This look out is just past the turn off to Arkaroo Rock Road - another wonderful place to stop on the way to Wilpena Pound for the short hike to view Adnyamathanha rock paintings featuring ochre and charcoal images.
Rawnsley Lookout is a short walk from the car parking area where there is plenty of room to pull over while town the caravan. From the lookout you can view Rawnsley Bluff which are amazing cliff formations near Wilpena Pound. Apparently these are best viewed at sunrise with the light reflecting off the rock. Rawnsley Lookout is also a place to view Chace Range to the south.
We called in to many lookouts on our trip through the Flinders Ranges and I would suggest you take the time and have a good look around at this beautiful part of our great country.
