St George Visitor Information

St George is in central Queensland about 196 kilometres south of Roma along the Carnarvon Highway.  Out first stop on arriving in St George  was the Visitor Information Centre to find out about caravan parks in town as well as things to see. The Balonne Shire Visitor Information Centre is located on St Georges Terrace (Corner Roe Street).

There is plenty of parking space near the VIC to pull over with the van and it is only about a block from the main road through town. The parkland along the banks of the river have a lovely walking track and plenty of places to sit in the shade and read any brochures you may have collected.

This centre also has a range of  locally made arts and crafts, history books as well as jams and sauces. The town bore water supply is available to fill up the caravan - just ask the staff. The Balonne Shire Visitor Information Centre is open seven days a week (9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday and 10 am to 2 pm during weekends and public holidays). A great place to commence your visit in this huge shire - over 31,119 square kilometres
