Mount Surprise Tourist Van Park Motel & BP Roadhouse is located on the Gulf Development Road (Garland Street) as you drive through Mount Surprise. It is across the road from the railway station which makes it a convenient place to stay if you arrive by train.
The Tourist Park offers motel style accommodation as well as powered and un-powered caravan and camping sites. There is plenty of shade around the park and a swimming pool for a cool dip. The Roadhouse is open seven days a week and has a licensed cafe and restaurant, or you can use the camp kitchen. I had to laugh at one sign out the front - “Burgers the way they used to be, before they stuffed them up.... “
