Bowen - Visitor Information

You won't miss the Bowen Information Centre on the Bruce Highway in north Queensland - it is the site of the Big Mango. Plenty of room to park with the caravan, and shaded seating provided in front of this Visitor Centre with tourist information, cafe and souvenirs.  We looked around and purchased frozen mango sorbet – delicious. Bowen is also known as the birthplace of the Kensington Pride mango (fondly referred to as the ‘Bowen Special’) - thus the Big Mango on display.

Directly across the road from the VIC is a wonderful RV stop with shaded tables and toilet facilities. The circular drive makes it easy to access with the van.  No overnight stay allowed.

This is a great place to visit with several Caravan Parks located on the waterfront and plenty of fishing opportunities as well as water activities. Farmers grow a variety of fruit and vegetables throughout the year and locals call Bowen the salad bowl of Australia.
