Babinda Bakery

We stopped at Babinda on our travels between Cairns and Paronella Park in northern Queensland - about 60 kilometres south of Cairns along the Bruce Highway.  We had been advised by fellow travellers to stop at the  Babinda Bakery. So glad we took the advice as we enjoyed a great lunch consisting of a meat pie, spinach and feta roll as well as apple slice. All were delicious and tables are provided inside or under cover along the footpath.

I also purchased some locally made Worcestershire sauce and vanilla extract from the Bakery - supporting local industries. The staff at the Bakery were lovely people, providing friendly service and happy to give us some tips on things to see in the area.

Of course the Bakery also sells a range of bread, cakes and slices.  They seem to be well supported by the locals with a continuous flow of people coming in for lunch, bread or coffee. 

I love the sign on the front window that shows opening hours during public holidays is dependent on interest from the staff - I guess everyone needs a break sometimes!
