Burdekin Visitor Information Centre (VIC) in Ayr, Queensland can be found at the southern end of town as you drive along the Bruce Highway. This centre is housed in a small cottage in Plantation Park surrounded by beautiful large shade trees. There is plenty of space for parking with the caravan, and behind the VIC is a public toilet.
The Burdekin VIC is staffed by volunteers and during our visit there were three local men on duty who had lived in the area for many years. They had just locked up for the day but were more than happy to open the doors and gather maps and information for our stay in Ayr. There is another Burdekin Informaiton Centre operating in nearby Home Hill (just across the Silver Link Bridge).
Visitor Information Centre in Ayr is open 7 days a week.
