The Royal Hotel in Muswellbrook used to be the watering hole of a friend of mine when he worked in town. He was keen for us to visit and have a drink for old times sake. The Royal Hotel can be found in a lovely old building in the centre of town - on the corner of Bridge Street and the New England Highway.
This place still seems to be popular with the locals and we sat in the bar area soaking in the atmosphere while watching several people play pool. The Royal Hotel was a short walk under the viaduct (railway line) from our caravan at the Riverside Cabin and Van Park on Mills Street (basic but convenient).
