Crossing Inn (old Fitzroy Crossing)

We drove out to look at the historic Crossing Inn during our stay at Fitzroy Crossing. Located at its original site on the banks of the Fitzroy River it is the oldest established hotel in the Kimberleys. The Crossing Inn offers a range of accommodation - motel rooms overlooking the gardens or the river, caravan park and camping ground. The Restaurant is open for meals with a covered verandah area if you would prefer to eat outside.  

The various heights of floodwaters that have been through the bar are measured on the bricks inside - the highest level recorded was in 1993 and was nine bricks high. There is an indigenous art gallery beside the Crossing Inn where local artworks are sold - this is very well priced and you may be lucky enough to talk to the artist themselves. They hold markets at the Inn every Sunday from April - September.
