Mount Beauty, is about 27 kilometres from Bright in Victoria along the Tawong Gap Road, as you head towards Halls Creek. This looks like a beautiful spot to relax and enjoy a few days while exploring this high country area of Victoria. I imagine it would be very busy during the snow season.
The Mount Beauty Visitor Information Centre is open seven days a week from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (excluding Christmas day). The Centre has a wonderful museum with hydro electricity display as well as a range of maps, books, souvenirs and local produce. We were very pleased to see that you can purchase local wines from any of the VIC's in this lovely area, and they priced reasonably for visitors.
This is a huge bike riding mecca and Mount Beauty VIC specialies in trail guides of the Alpline National Park. Some things to do in this beautiful area include - bush walking, mountain biking,, hang gliding, ski touring and white water rafting. There are lots of cyclist riding up and down these mountains so please take care.
