Lake Sambell can be found in Beechworth, North East Victoria. It was originally the site of an open cut mining operation which was later turned into a beautiful recreational lake and reserve This is an ideal spot for swimming, fishing, kayaking, walking and cycling. The lake can be found along McConville Avenue and there is an adventure playground at Sandy Beach for children. The Murray to the Mountains Rail Trail passes through the reserve and there are great facilities for locals and visitors:
Lake Sambell Caravan Park is located on the the shores of this man-made lake which is within walking distance to shops, restaurants, cafes and, of course, the Beechworth Bakery.
