The Winton Visitor Information Centre can be found at the Waltzing Matilda Centre in Elderslie Street, Winton, Queensland. This was our first stop when arriving in town to collect information on the surrounding region. (Unfortunately this was destroyed by fire after our visit - I hope they can rebuild one day).
The staff at the Visitor Information Centre were happy and friendly and gave us plenty of advice on how to see as much as possible in the short time we had available during our visit. A local directory is available to give you information on local businesses, accommodation, eating places etc.
We picked up a 'What's on in Winton' brochure (available from April to September) which informs visitors what in town for the month. We discovered there was a night market taking place during our visit so we headed down to have a look. The Visitor Information Centre is open seven days a week from 9 to 5, with restricted hours on public holidays, and weekends from October through to March.
