Tewantin is a loveley little town on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland - just north of Noosa Heads and Noosaville. A ferry departs from Tewantin (Noosa Marina) several times a day and heads down the Noosa River - stopping at various locations. There are specialty shops located on this marina and each Sunday, the Noosa Marina Markets are held on the boardwalk, selling local crafts and produce.
We based ourselves in Tewantin when holidaying in this beautiful part of Queensland and found it easy to access major tourist attractions - Buderim Ginger Factory, Eumundi Markets, Hastings Street, Gympie Terrace etc. There are plenty of places to eat in the area and we particular enjoyed fish and chips from the Noosa Harbour Fish Market located at the marina. The Tewantin RSL club was another favourite of ours with a courtesy bus available to and from our accommodation at the Noosa Caravan Park on Moorindil Street, Tewantin.
Poinciana Avenue is a pedestrian-friendly area in the centre of town with a range of shops, banks and restaurants. Parkyn's Hut Visitor Information centre is located on Poinciana Avenue and they are very happy to help with maps and information on what to see in the area (another Information Centre located on the Marina). We found this a nice, friendly place to stay on the Sunshine Coast - not quite a busy as some other centres.
