About 2 kilometres north of Springsure along the Gregory Highway you will find a lovely little rest area with shaded picnic tables and new toilet facilities. This park has great view of Virgin Rock and even though it is in Lion Park is has become known as the Virgin Rock Rest Area. Virgin Rock is on the eastern side of Mount Zamia with spectacular views at night from this park. These rock formation are amazing and easily seen from the highway as you head through town.
Virgin Rock Rest Area (Lions Park) was extremely popular during our last trip through the Springsure during a rainy period. Alongside the Rest area is a large sealed parking space which enabled the overnight campers to keep their caravans and motor homes away from the mud.
