Carnarvon National Park can be found in central Queensland - turn off the Carnarvon Highway between Roma and Rolleston. Of course this is home to Carnarvon Gorge and we took the opportunity to take the Carnarvon Gorge Walking Trail while staying at Takarakka Bust Resort adjacent to the Park.
I think the best way to get a real perspective of this Gorge and National Park is to treat yourself to a scenic flight. I found it had to get a real feel of the depth from the bottom of the Gorge.
There are several accommodation options near the Carnarvon National Park and plenty of other walking trails.
