Miles is a small town on the Warrego Highway and we stopped here for a break during our journey from Dalby to Roma, Queensland. The Visitor Information Centre is a good place in town to enjoy a picnic lunch in the park - plenty of shade, secure children's playground and clean public toilets.
The streets are wide and the town looks neat and tidy. There are a couple of caravan parks in town - one across from the information centre which is quite small - one at the other end of town which seems to be full of cabins. There are quite a few gas fields and a mining operation in this area so I imagine the cabins are for their workers.
Another interesting accommodation option is to head to Possum Park about 20 kilometres north of Miles - once a top secret bomb store to resist the enemy attack, now an interesting tourist park with cabins and caravan sites. Friends have told us about this park and we will be heading back to stay during our next adventure.
Miles has a number of facilities - shopping centre, hospital, Olympic swimming pool etc. Apparently is if particularly beautiful during the wildflower season.
