Burke and Wills Roadhouse is on the Burke Development Road between Cloncurry and Normanton in Queensland. We left our caravan here for a few nights while we camped at Adels Grove and then returned to spend a night before heading to Karumba. Burke and Wills Roadhouse seems to be in the middle of nowhere but is a very busy service station and accommodation centre for travellers and people working in the area. Helicopter mustering was being conducted during our visit and some of the pilots were using this facility for accommodation and meals, flying out each morning to work the large cattle properties.
We had a large powered site located next to a shaded cement slab which was most welcome as it was very hot during the day in this part of Australia. Burke and Wills Roadhouse is open seven days a week with a restaurant and bar area for those stopping the night. Lovely shaded verandahs surround the Roadhouse where you can sit and enjoy your meal or takeaway. We found the staff friendly and helpful.
The toilet and shower facilities were basic but clean - I was a bit concerned after reading the sign saying "Brown Snakes frequent these areas - keep the door closed at all times". I made sure I had a good look around before using the toilet.
