Erldunda Desert Oaks Resort sits at the intersection of the Stuart and Lasseter Highways in the Northern Territory. The Lasseter Highway is the main road to Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kings Canyon. We stopped at Erldunda on our way to Uluru and decided to spend the night here on our return journey.
This is a very big Roadhouse with lots to offer including motel accommodation, caravan park and emu farm. There is a large bar area that serves lunch and dinner plus a shop selling a range of grocery items and souvenirs. The baker has freshly baked goodies – we tried their Angus Sausage Roll which was so good we went back to order another. Breakfast is served in the eating area beside the bakery counter. Very neat and tidy and great service. Petrol was a reasonable price so we filled up before heading toward Ayers Rock Resort.
They say that Erldunda is the Centre of the Centre of Australia.
On our return journey we arrived at Erldunda at about 5 pm and booked a caravan site for the night. This was a great drive through site with shade and some grass. They have built a viewing platform near the caravan park to watch the sun set over the countryside.
Desert Oaks bar for dinner and ordered steak, salad and chips. The service was great and bartender kept our bottle of wine in the fridge for us as there were no wine coolers available for the table. Sat outside after dinner to finish our wine and had a wonderful time speaking to some visitors travelling through the area.
RvTrips recommends Erldunda as a place to stay, eat and/or refuel when driving north or south along the Stuart Highway.
