We called in to the Murrurundi Visitor Information Centre during our travels along the New England Highway between Scone and Tamworth. The lady on duty at the time was extremely friendly and very helpful with brochures on things to see and do in the area. She had a great local knowledge and was very interesting to talk to as her enthusiasm was infectious.
A pamphlet on the Murrurundi Heritage Walk lists the many historical buildings in town - apparently the area within a four kilometre radius of the Post Office is a national Trust Heritage Precinct. Unfortunately we did not have time to take this walk but it is on my list for a return trip.
Close to Murrurundi there are some significant geological features such as Wallabada Rock (the third largest monolith in the Southern Hemisphere), Timor caves, Burning Mountain and Wingen Maid.
The Murrurundi Visitor Information Centre also sells a range of local arts and crafts.
